This short Rise 360 course was a personal project designed to help new associates in the Home Depot paint department quickly build confidence with customer interactions. I served as both the subject matter expert and instructional designer, using my real-world experience to guide the content and flow.
New hires often feel overwhelmed by the technical product knowledge required in the paint department. Dealing with contractors who look to you to know what you're doing when they are on a time crunch can be daunting. This course aimed to ease onboarding by simulating a real-world conversation in a structured, interactive format. This course also provides an easy-to-follow walkthrough of Home Depot's paint system, One Paint, to give new associates confidence when working with the system for the first time.
- -Practice using the GET principal to engage with our customers and asking customers common questions
- Learn how to use the paint machine to mix paint
- Know how to offer supplies based on customer needs
- determine what to do in special circumstances

- I got to design a short, focused learning experience that feels realistic and useful for new hires
- I wore both hats as SME and designer, making sure the content actually made sense to someone new
- Building in Rise 360 helped me get comfortable designing for quick, mobile-friendly learning with a fast turn around, only taking 6 days to complete from start to finish
- I learned how to keep things simple and interactive without overwhelming the learner with content
- This project has gotten me excited to expand my knowledge further by creating another course using Storyline in the future
